Guest: Love in the Rockies, Corbin’s Bend

LoveintheRockiesCBHello and welcome. As part of my Tuesday intro series, I am showcasing one novella within a six novella anthology. These are all books set in Corbin’s Bend, that fictional town in Colorado, where spanking is not only okay, but the norm. Everyone there knows what he/she is getting into, so there’s no duress or non-consent.

In this romantic Valentine’s Day collection, authors Constance Masters, Kate Richards, Kathryn R. Blake, Etta Stark, Ruth Staunton and Thianna D, each provide a little love story about familiar and beloved Corbin’s Bend characters. It’s an excellent way to step into Corbin’s bend and see what all the fuss is about. Six books for $9.99!

Today, I’m sharing one of the novellas, Knowing What She Needs by Thianna D. Thianna has a real knack for knowing what’s romantic, and expresses it very well in this story about Charmagne and Brent.

Winter has been oppressive too long and Charmagne Kendle feels like she’s about to climb the walls. While she loves Brent, his need to take care of others when she thinks he should be home with her comes to a head on Valentine’s Day when the community suffers a massive power outage and instead of spending the day with her and Kayla, he’s at the dome working on community stuff. She knows it’s illogical, but at the moment she doesn’t care.

Brent knows the woman he loves is stressed and has a surprise in store to help lessen it. When she explodes, he sets her straight with an over-the-knee spanking that turns into a night of passionate lovemaking. Once she calms down, he delivers the best Valentine’s Day gift she could have received. Stress gone and having reconnected in the best way, when help is once again needed from the man she loves, Char has a choice to make: Accept it willingly. Or Detonate. One decision controls their future. Will she make the right one this Valentine’s Day?

And here’s a charming excerpt:

Char felt languid as she slid out of the bed after Brent left the bedroom. Her rear pounded slightly as she moved, but she felt too good to care. Of course she knew the truth of the kind of relationship they were in and that a good, strong spanking tended to knock stress right out of her, but in the moment – especially when trying to protect the man she loved from hurt – it had all made sense to keep quiet.

Humming as she padded into the bathroom, she blinked at her expression. Her hair had gotten longer than she used to keep it, mainly because Brent loved it long, and was tousled and looked as though she’d had sex. Grinning at herself, she nodded. “Yes, I did.” And amazing sex it was. Well, every time with Brent was good, but even though he had put in extra insulation in both their bedroom and their daughter’s, they were a bit more cautious at home with the little cherub around.

It had been almost a year since he had pounded into her so roughly. Her puss ached this morning – for another good pounding. Of course, they probably had to get back relatively soon. It was a shame, really. It was a wonderful feeling being in a love bubble like she was right now.

After using the toilet and brushing her teeth, she padded back into the bedroom, sliding between the smooth satin sheets and pulling up the blanket. Satin sheets. They really needed to get some. The door pushed open as Brent backed into the room, a large tray in his hands. His eyes alighted on her the moment he turned and lit up. “Morning, Charmagne. Thought you could use a healthy breakfast this morning.”

“Probably,” she agreed. “We didn’t eat last night.”

“True enough.” The tray was filled with scrambled eggs, sausage links, a hamsteak, a biscuit, and two large glasses of orange juice.

“Feeding an army?” she teased, picking up one of the forks and digging in.

“Yep. Need to keep you energized for round two…three…four…” He broke off and winked.

“Don’t you think people will wonder where we are?”

“Oh, they’ll figure it out soon enough.” Something in his tone told her he had reserved his cousin’s cabin, probably for the weekend, and that their daughter was already in the know.

“Wonderful man,” she said with a pleased sigh, before taking a bite of the eggs. It was nice to get away for a few days, just the two of them. It had been a long time since they had done so. Once she started eating, she couldn’t stop. Her stomach was on board with eating as much food as she could put into it. Brent munched on the few things she wasn’t partial too and in no time, the tray was just dirty dishes. “Guess I was hungry,” Char said with a laugh.

Picking up the tray, Brent sat it off the side on the floor, before sliding under the blanket and pulling her close.

“So how long are we here for?”

He nuzzled her nose. “Long enough.” It was evasive, but in this moment, warm in his arms, she didn’t really care. Benjamin and Jonathon could take care of Kayla as well as the two of them could. In fact, they had written it into their wills that if they both died, the two men were to become her guardians.

Besides soft touches and the fact his hand invariably ended up on her derriere stroking softly every few minutes, there was nothing animalistic about their morning. It was sensual and she felt entirely reconnected to him by the time he pulled away. “Tell you what,” he murmured, stroking her face as he looked deeply into her eyes, “I’m going to run you a bath and I want you to soak for at least a half hour.”

“Mmm,” she said, nodding. Looked like Brent was set on pampering her this morning and she was not about to say no.
