I was thinking about romance and sci-fi, and pondering the cross-over of the two genres. Some really amazing books have been written by golden age sci-fi writers who have included romance, even though they’re not writing romance novels. Think about Restoree by Anne McCaffrey, or Time Enough for Love by Robert Heinlein, or Dream Park by Niven and Barnes. Little ole me wrote, Daughter of the Moon, books 1 and 2, and they were very much sci-fi and romance, as was my Laricon’s Ways.

Cover: The Winner: Romantek Book OneThis ties in with my most recent book, The Winner: Romantek Book One. In that story, Audrey Beacon finds her one true love in the most unlikely way, through a time-travel-like dream that turns into reality. Even her hero, White Star Smith, doesn’t expect the overwhelming desire and emotion he feels for the woman in his virtual reality-scape.

I think putting the two things, sci-fi and romance, together is a natural, though romance often goes along for the ride rather than being the main event. So many of us like a good space opera, but it makes it more approachable to add a little (or a lot of) romance in the mix. Think about the new Star Trek (the alternate reality). In both of those movies, Spock has a romance with Uhura. Talk about an unlikely pairing, and yet it works. It works because someone, in this case the screenwriters Orci and Kurtzman, used their imaginations to figure out how to have a romance without pinning Kirk down to one woman on his own ship. Spock and Uhura, although very important characters, were secondary to Kirk’s story. Kirk’s story couldn’t be hemmed in by an ongoing romance on board the Enterprise. And yet, how does Carol Marcus fit in, in Star Trek Into Darkness? If you remember the original series, you might have a hint. The alternate reality movies needed the romance, but it was a backseat passenger during the wild ride.

The Winner: Romantek Book One is about the romance of the two main characters. The romance takes center stage. The sci-fi and time-travel elements are vehicles for that romance. When you read The Winner, you’ll discover a new world, a world in which dreams might become reality, and travel to different eras, different exciting situations, can be as simple as going to sleep. Dreaming takes on a whole new meaning!

If you like sci-fi, if you like time-travel, and, of course, if you love romance, you’ll enjoy The Winner: Romantek Book One. Take a look here, read the blurb and/or the excerpt, I think you’ll be intrigued. If you’d like to jump right in, here’s how, through Amazon: The Winner (Romantek). Saturday Spankings

If it’s Saturday (and it is), it’s time for more Saturday Spankings! Woo-hoo! I hope you’re here for your 8 sentences of red fannies.

Cover: Daughter of the Moon, Book 2This week I’d like to introduce you to book 2 of my Daughter of the Moon series. This one’s entitled, Daughter of the Moon, Book 2: Depths. It takes place after a nuclear holocaust that forces the group of friends down to an underground bunker. It’s a huge space, but still underground and they’re all kind of stuck there for 15 years or so. This takes place during the early part of the book, where Mikhail (our hero) and Sonata (our heroine) are finding their way through the maze of their burgeoning relationship.

Mikhail is telling his friend Hector about what he saw during a “comm” conversation before they went underground. Mikhail is no prude, but Sonata was quite the innocent when this episode transpired. He hates to see her innocence lost, especially to the very jaded Charles.

I could see Sonata behind him on the screen. She got up off the floor and walked away from the video comm, and when I saw her butt I thought she’d been in an accident or something. It was fiery red. I asked if she’d had a bad sunburn or the like, and Charles informed me, nonchalantly, that she’d asked him to spank her and he had.” Mikhail’s voice shook with fury. “He then pointedly told me to keep my nose out of his business. Her sweet ass was bright red, Hector. That was no slap and tickle game they’d been playing.”

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Saturday Spankings offering this week. Don’t forget to hop along to the other spanking fiction writers and see what they’re gifting up as well.

Horny Hump Day graphic

Welcome, once again, to the bright spot—some might say the hot spot—in the middle of your week: Horny Hump Day!

Cover: Daughter of the Moon, Book 2I’m continuing down the road, dipping my toes in my older works this week. Last week, we had a little peek of Daughter of the Moon, Book 1: Surface and this week, I’d like to share a taste of Daughter of the Moon, Book 2: Depths. These books are some of my oldest, written in 1995, from an outline I did in 1975 (I was in high school). The book was not divided yet, and topped the charts at over 140,000 words. It got put away in the drawer for further contemplation. After I started working with Renaissance E Books in 2000, I decided to pitch the book, but before I did that, I broke the books in two, thus, Daughter of the Moon, Book 1: Surface, and Daughter of the Moon, Book 2: Depths. Their first publishing date was 2002, but then Renaissance E Books modified their business structure and re-released the books in 2010. These books have had an eventful life.

If you want blurbs and excerpts, go to my Daughter of the Moon pages here on Patricia Green Books. They are speculative sci-fi, highly erotic, and break some of the common romance rules. If you want a little adventure, please give them a try. Most people seem to like them pretty well.

Now, after much nattering, I’m sharing a little segment of book 2. In this segment, we find the group in Articulus, the underground environment that was built for safety in case of a nuclear disaster, one which has transpired. Mikhail (our hero) and Sonata are on the outs, but she has fantasies about him anyway. Here’s one such.

Then his strong fingers oiled his chest, ribs, stomach, ever-so-slowly moving toward the shaft standing so rigidly amidst the dark curls of his groin. She watched his hands apply the oil down the length of him, and back, until she couldn’t stand it any longer. Finally, she pushed him back into the sand and straddled his hips intent on riding him to the peak.

Unfortunately, this is only in her imagination. They’ve a few steps yet to take before they get back together.

Don’t forget to hop around to the other Horny Hump Day authors’ blogs! I doubt they’ll “talk your ear off” as I have. LOL
